Prysmian: Connecting better data to better sales
Prysmian, a global leader in cable manufacturing, is helping shape many of the world’s leading industries, including construction, infrastructure, and transportation. With a revenue of over $16bn, Prysmian offers a complex catalog of cutting-edge products that are used across a huge range of commercial applications. As you can imagine, managing such a catalog on a global scale is challenging, to say the least.
When Prysmian began working with inriver, its internal teams were using many different systems and platforms to hold a huge amount of product data. It was becoming unsustainable to manage and control such complex data, which in turn made it harder for operational and commercial teams to share accurate product information across global teams. This slowed down sales processes and limited the company’s growth potential.
It was clear that Prysmian needed a solution with:
- A flexible data model that could accommodate its subtly different product attributes
- The ability to categorize products into many niche categories, allowing markets to see commercial applications that are relevant to their needs
- The capacity to add sustainability attributes to the data model, meeting growing environmental considerations for customers
Implementing the inriver PIM helped Prysmian bring data from different global systems together into a single centralized repository. This massively improved reliability and consistency. We offered the infrastructure that helped untangle a kind of ‘data spaghetti’ the company suffered from.
With its data organized, accessible, and accurate thanks to the inriver PIM, Prysmian has been able to focus on important things. Building brand awareness and customer loyalty across its markets has been made easier by all operatives knowing the information it presents comes from a single source of truth. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Prysmian reported increasing sales while many competitors were struggling thanks, in part, to its (then) new PIM platform.
Matas: Much more than a cosmetic improvement
Leading Danish health and personal care brand Matas is a giant in the bricks-and-mortar and digital retail spaces. With over 500 stores and millions of customers who shop online with the brand, Matas had embarked on an ambitious digital transformation to cater to the surging amount of online customers. During this process, it sought a solution to the challenge of managing a product catalog of over 50,000 SKUs across its physical and digital shelves.
However, translating that brick-and-mortar success into e-commerce wins meant needing to find a solution for:
- Slow, complex, and fragmented product enrichment processes; changes made on the ERP wouldn’t show up online until the next day
- A lack of automatic workflows to ensure robust, aligned data-governance structures across the business
- Little product/variant structure, which led to duplication of effort in maintaining listings
- Few high-quality, engaging product stories that could be leveraged for content
- Missing keyword research and SEO optimization for search engines
I’m proud to say that the inriver PIM has helped Matas change the game when it comes to its product data. Processes like enriching product data used to take several days for Matas, but with the inriver platform in place, this process takes just a few minutes. Such a huge efficiency gain means Matas has significantly improved its speed to market, which has primed the business to make improvements in key areas like revenue and market share.
Acting as a unified and streamlined source for all things product-data related, our PIM solution will help Matas with compliance needs for new and evolving regulations, such as the EU’s forthcoming Digital Product Passport.
